Department of Motor Vehicles

Late night, last place for the day the Department of Motor Vehicles. I start to understand the "east side" people around me were talking about...... because in the Evergreen area I can't really feel the "east side" kind of feel. But during this scavenger hunt, I think I now understand how they feel...... and I think that's the most valuable lesson I learned via the hunt. (迷之聲: 你學的還真少......)

DMV is a state-level government agency that handles vehicle registration and driver licensing, "DMV" is not used in every state but this term is universally understood particularly in the context of driver's license issuance and renewal.

Meet with Vito Chiala - Principal of William C. Overfelt High School

Because it's a Thursday night and there are presentations and tests Friday, James and I didn't have the time to wait till the meeting is over. We met with Mr. Vito Chiala the Principal of William C. Overfelt High School, he's a really kind person and told us the meeting will go on maybe to 10 or 11pm and where the agenda was. After a short talk with him we took a picture with him and he went back in to grab his card for us, saying that even though we couldn't meet with the school board members we can still tell our teacher we met a principal. 感動落淚, 天下竟然有這麼好的人>< (擦淚

ESUHSD Annual Organization & Regular Meeting

After taking the picture with the sign of the school board, we went in and take a picture with the meeting. Surprising not a lot of people in the meeting and it's cool to see some student representatives speak to the school board.

I creeped in the meeting and grab an agenda out, it was a really really LONG meeting, it starts from 4pm and it was still going when the time we left which was 9:30pm. The meeting was basically about approving and discussing millions of stuff, nominations and elections for the next term of school board members.

East Side Union High School District School Board

Three days before the dead line of the scavenger hunt James and I meet up at 7pm to finish it, Where's Matthew? Apparently he got lucky, he met two representatives and was at an event by accident before we met up that afternoon.

The last time I had been here was two years ago with my mother, there were some problems with the transfer to Evergreen Valley High School. Because we are the "east side" I believe...... this places is in the middle of nowhere. Actually I was pretty surprised to see there were lights for the sign of the school board...... 我不是故意的......

The ESUHSD administrates 18 high schools with a combined enrollment of approximately 24,500 students in the area of San Jose. The schools include 11 comprehensive or traditional and 7 alternative high school programs. It's the School Board Evergreen Valley HS is in.

Social Security Administration

The next stop which was the last place for the day because we kind of get into some trouble...... Same as the court house the Social Security Administration building is in a weird place too, by a small road next to the freeway surrounded by some office buildings, it really gives me a feeling of the building was misplaced by accident......

After I took James and Matthew's photo with the Social Security Administration building I hand the camera to Matthew and wait for him to take my picture. While Matthew was dealing with the camera, the security came out and we were told to delete the pictures we took with the building and as a trade we got this card...... 真是不划算的交易 Orz

The SSA is an independent agency of the United States federal government that administers Social Security, a social insurance program consisting of retirement, disability, and survivors' benefits.

San Jose City Hall

The next stop was the San Jose City Hall, comparing to the superior court house this place is so...... superior (蛤?). The city hall looked really modern, high buildings, the use of 清水模(exposed concrete?), and the water design at the front. Finally a feel of downtown !! (迷之聲: 有人說鎮上一定要很有現代感嗎= =?)

The building was designed by Richard Meier, and opened to the public on 15 October 2005, replacing the former City Hall which was used from 1958 until 2005. From 1889 to 1958 the city hall was located in what is now Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.

Santa Clara County Superior Court House

The dead line of the project is coming, so the three of us meet up again at 11/27 Wednesday afternoon also was the first day of the Thanks Giving break. ps. 放長假還做project 看我多愛社會課~ (迷之聲: 那時不做就沒時間做了不是)

The first place we went was the Superior Court House, and the thing I learned most is that our superior court house looked...... really not superior. Because there were a lot of one way roads at downtown San Jose, it took us tons of time circling around try to find it. James was saying that it looks so much like a hotel......

After the formation of Santa Clara County on April 25, 1851, a number of buildings served as courthouses. The eighth courthouse is the building known now as the Old Courthouse which was the one we went. This courthouse has served the public well for over a century. Today it serves as one of the numerous Superior Court of California facilities in Santa Clara County.
